Volume marker inaccuracies: a cross‐sectional survey of infant feeding bottles
An Australian study finds that volume markers on infant feeding bottles can be inaccurate even when they claim to be complying with standards. This has led to concerns about the health of infants who are fed formula in such bottles as they introduce infant formula reconstitution errors. Over‐concentrated and under‐concentrated infant formula can cause serious illness, malnutrition and may contribute to obesity. The researchers recommend the need for well-enforced standards, as well as guidance for parents, carers and health professionals to ensure infant formula is accurately reconstituted.
